Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) for ERW Pipe Plant

CIM package provides a comprehensive system for measurement, monitoring and tracking of process, production and quality related parameters in a Tube mill and can be adapted to other discrete manufacturing industries. This system was initially developed for a ERW tube mill manufactured by DMS France and installed for Bakrie Pipes in Indonesia.

Critical coil parameters such as Width, Thickness & Roundness and process parameters such as Welding, Annealing, UST, Hydrotester and Lab tests for the pipes and coils are measured using various sensors in the production line. The process and quality data is collected online via PLC and PC network through which all the processing stations are linked and networked. This information is collected and saved for further analysis and report generation as per API and ARAMCO standards.

A tube tracking system is also an integral part of the CIM that helps track the tube from the coil input stage to the finished pipes at the dispatch end. Each coil/pipe is uniquely numbered and barcoded and tracked using a network of Barcode readers at each processing station. Tracking and genealogy of the manufactured pipes are generated meeting various stringent controls and standards.
