MES - Manufacturing Execution System

MES is a distributed system. It is essentially a quality assurance system with tracking and genealogy which captures all the quality oriented data generated during the different stages of manufacturing process, using data acquisition systems and PLCs. The data generated at the machine integrated terminals passes through Siemens L2 bus to the PLCs. The data which then passes through Siemens H1 bus is captured and stored in a central server, in a database. All the communications - inter process as well as through the H1 bus are handled by TCP/IP sockets.

This system also tracks the genealogy from the raw material to the finished product and stores all the production and quality data as history. Two dedicated servers are used for fault monitoring and also to generate breakdown as well as preventive maintenance schedules.
